Where can I find Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dog Breeders who can sell, relocate and export dogs from Vietnam to my country?
Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dogs of Vietnam are a very rare dog breed, indeed. The numbers of dogs either born or living outside Vietnam are very few. There are only a few professional dog breeders internationally and most always have a shortage of puppies and /or adult dogs. The majority of good Phu Quoc breeders are located in Vietnam. If non-speaking Vietnamese people try to source a breeder they will encounter issues of language, where most breeders do not speak / write English and their websites or social media pages are all in Vietnamese. Further, there is not a lot of information ‘officially’ published in English on the breed either in print or online. So, if you live outside Vietnam and do not speak or read Vietnamese it can be very difficult to find a breeder of Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dogs.
WE have a solution….we are proud to introduce and offer you services of finding, selecting and exporting Phu Quoc dogs from Vietnam. We only work with the best of the best of Phu Quoc Ridgeback breeders in Vietnam, many that have produced award winning dogs at local dogs shows in Vietnam. All breeders are professional and accredited by the Vietnam Kennel Association (VKA) with breed certifications from the VKA, an agency that is recognized as a Contract Partner for the country of Vietnam by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

International Promotion of the Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dog
If you have not heard of the amazing Phu Quoc Ridgeback, and many have not, they are brave and strong hunters, fierce protectors and loyal companions of local island people originating from the southernmost point of the Kiên Giang Province and Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. Phu Quoc Ridgeback dogs have uncanny characteristics of a cat, a monkey and fish. They have webbed lining in their paws to allow them to run on sand and swim in water and are known to catch fish. They climb trees and jump over high gates with ease and always spotted on the roof of a building or on the top of a tall fence. They run like cheetahs and have flexible cat-like bodies. They hunt alone, or strategically within a pack in stealth and with precision.
They do make an ideal pet; a medium sized dog, with low maintenance (short hair requiring a quick bath once a month and little grooming). They are sociable with family and other pets and very playful. They are intensely loyal and make a great guard dog. However, they are ‘bundles of energy’ and you need to ‘run’ those long legs every day. Not recommended for apartment living.
digi-escape, who are also the publishers of Me Thu Cung (a passion for pets in Vietnamese), Vietnam’s first and only pet magazine, are part of an international promotion campaign of the Phu Quco Ridgeback Dog worldwide. You will find many articles in both Vietnamese and English about these dogs, also published in the local print and online media in Vietnam.
Testimonials from Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dog Owners from around the World
One of our objections for this international promotional campaign is to collect testimonials from existing and new owners of Phu Quoc dogs living in foreign countries. We would like to ask them about their dog’s adaptability to their new environment? Can they survive and be happy in cold climate countries? How about their temperament and behavior in their new countries? Do they like children? Most dog owners have this misunderstanding that these dogs are too wild and not balanced to bring into western homes. These questions have never been asked before in the history of this breed. This information is very important in the greater understanding of the Phu Quoc Ridgeback dog adding to an existing knowledge base.

- All puppies must be over 3 months of age to be exported from Vietnam.
- Vietnam is a high-risk Rabies country and exporting dogs to Rabies free countries like Australia, Singapore and the UK have strict restrictions that will require the dog to be quarantined in their own country or a ‘transition’ country.
